Garden Update: Embracing Early Spring
Along with some faithful old friends and lovely new folks we’ve been out in the garden since March. And let me tell you, the weather has been quite a carrousel. Sunny one day, hailstorm the next! But rain or shine, we’ve persisted and so has the garden. Seedlings previously still shy are shooting up in front of our eyes, the broad beans are beginning to reach for the sky and there’s lots of fresh greens, flowers and fruit trees are in blossom.
We’ve got seedlings of tomatoes, sprouting broccoli, basil, pepper, lettuce, celery, cucumbers, sunflowers and pumpkins growing in the greenhouse. The garden beds are full of growth, but there’s still lots to plant out now that the weather has improved! The garden needs lots of TLC and every helping hand would be much appreciated, and rewarded with some delicious fresh greens and herbs.
This Saturday we hope to sow a lot more seeds and to shovel & wheelbarrow some compost to improve other beds. So there’s work for those with patient hands and whoever wants a good exercise. Come and join us.
Also, this Saturday at 2pm we’re having our monthly garden meeting, for anyone to come and join in the discussion of future events and needs of the space and the community. We’ll have soup, tea and hopefully cake!
Hope to see you tomorrow!
