Artistic expression, cake, and a trombocino squash

Wear it? Play it? eat it? Abbey Gardens on Harvest Festival day was the place to find out about trombocino squash… And at our fruit and flower themed celebration of four years’ community gardening, there was plenty else to do besides: drawing, wildlife photography, cake and flower arranging competitions, garden tours and a butterfly workshop. For those needing a break from the activities, there was the honesty stall to browse, the eco shed project to find out about, music to listen to, the finished Food Stories patchwork to see and lots of good food.

A big smiley “Weren’t we lucky that the sun shined” thank-you to our competition judges, our portrait artist, Gary and Elisabetta for more delicious food from Abbey Gardens ingredients, Arch 1 House Band, Ashley and Karen, Fiona P, Hamish, Nina, Tim, Torange, our contributors to the patchwork, Cath for the publicity, all who baked, all who helped on the day and last but not least Jen for event organisation and Erwan for his marvellously enthusiastic announcements.
